My personal sports experience comes from artistic gymnastics, which I started when I was about 4 years old. I did artistic gymnastics for about 16 years, the last 6 of which I competed in the national team. I competed during most of my career and gained experience at both the national and international level. As an athlete, I was very analytical and interested in technique and honing it to perfection, which most likely partly contributed to my transition to becoming a coach.
I have accumulated about 11 years of coaching experience so far. I have done gymnastics coaching with athletes of several different sports, but since 2016, I have mainly coached cheerleading athletes in acrobatics, strength and mobility at Spine Performance camps. My strengths as a coach are my broad knowledge of technique, biomechanics and physiology. As a coach, I am demanding and precise, but I always strive to create a compassionate and relaxed atmosphere in my coaching sessions. I want my trainees to feel heard and respected in my training sessions. You can and should be able to question your coach!
I have a bachelor’s degree in sport sciences, and I am currently completing my master’s studies at the Faculty of sport and health sciences at the University of Jyväskylä, majoring in sport coaching and fitness testing.’
