‘My journey as a cheerleader began in 2009, when I was encouraged to get involved by a friend. From the start, I really liked the versatile nature of the sport, the community spirit, and being able to learn something new. I am still training this season and I feel that one of my strengths also as a coach is having had a long and versatile career as an athlete.
I started coaching in 2015 and I have had the opportunity to coach almost all levels and ages, from juniors to seniors. In my opinion, the best thing about coaching is seeing athletes display enthusiasm for the sport, their development as athletes and people, and the feeling of working together. As a coach, it is important to me that everyone feels safe in the team, the training is fun and that all athletes are taken into account as individuals, beyond their team.
As a coach, I am highly determined, but at the same time relaxed and cheerful. I strive to create an encouraging and open atmosphere, where everyone can learn and develop, but where it is also safe to make mistakes. I like experimenting with different ways of doing things and discussing with teams what might work in their specific case.
My strengths include skill training and perfecting routines and improving their fluidity. At the moment, I have the most experience in level 5 skills. I am currently studying physiotherapy, which has given me good skills and perspectives on warming up and physical training to support cheerleader training.’
