Cristian

I began my cheerleading career after ice hockey through a series of coincidences, and I fell in love with the sport immediately. The sense of community, versatility, and constant variation in the sport completely drew me in, and there’s been no turning back. As an athlete, I’ve competed at the national level in the Premier Coed division, and in the Junior Coed Elite division at both the national and European levels. Over the course of my career, I’ve achieved many milestones, including a Finnish National Championship and two consecutive silver medals at the World Championships with the Finnish Junior Coed National Team, where I also had the honor of being the team captain for multiple seasons. In addition, I was one of the top three finalists for the “Role Model of the Year 2025” award by the Finnish Cheerleading Federation.

I began coaching at a young age, and my passion for it grew quickly. I’ve coached teams at all levels and age groups: Youth, Junior, and Senior teams across various levels. For the 2025–2026 season, I coach DTC Rockcats, the reigning European and National champions in the Junior Coed Elite division.

To me, coaching is so much more than just running practices. It’s about connecting, supporting, and growing together. I strongly resonate with the philosophy: “Where there is high demand, there must be high support.” I believe that determination and high expectations, at their best, are acts of respect and care. When we demand a lot, the coach must also offer strong support, understand each athlete’s contribution, and take responsibility for the team’s mental resilience.

My coaching style is based on clear goals and process-oriented thinking, not assembly-line work but continuous development. My goal is to build an environment where every athlete feels valued, challenged, and above all, supported, ideally all three at the same time. Trust and mutual, earned respect are core values for me as a coach.

I have been trained and successfully completed the ICU Green and Red Medallion courses, JEC and RCC, qualifying me as both a scoring judge and a legality official. My heart beats for rule expertise, and I find All Star Cheerleading to be both fascinating as a sport and intriguing as a global community. As a result of extensive training, I have been certified as an IASF Cheerleading Panel Official in both the Building and Deduction scoring categories. For the 2025–2026 season, I am a judge at Varsity Europe under the United Scoring system, with my areas of expertise being Deduction and Overall judging.

I speak English, Finnish, and Portuguese natively, and I’ve lived in four countries across two continents. This multicultural background has given me a deep appreciation for diversity, connection, and communication, and I love sharing that through coaching cheerleading camps abroad.

I am an ambitious, empathetic, and analytical coach. I strive to be the pillar of support and guiding figure my athletes remember, not just for the results, but for how it felt to grow and learn together, even in the toughest moments with high demand.
